ALTITUDE ACCESS is an IPAF, PASMA and NPORS registered training centre supplying training recognised by both the HSE and also the MCG (Major Contractors Group).
Nottingham Platform Service
Our highly trained and PAC qualified service engineers can provide the expertise required to keep any make and model of machine in the best working order for consistently safe and efficient performance. We offer both a mobile service or a repair / refurbishment service at our large modern workshop. The lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment regulations 1998 (LOLER) state that: “Aerial platforms must be inspected every 6 months by a competent person to ensure safety and have a certificate of examination”.
Points to Consider when Choosing Which Machine
The machine platform height will be 2 metres lower than the working height. When ordering a machine, be clear whether you are talking about working height or platform height.
Outreach is measured from the centre of the turret so please allow for width of machine including outriggers if required. Also note if the outreach will be over any obstruction.
The Safe Working Load (SWL) of machines include persons, tools and equipment – all of these factors must be taken into consideration.
Working Inside or Outside
Machines are available with different power sources. Usually battery powered for inside use, diesel for outside and possibly duel fuel if working both inside and outside. Remember to make note of any restricted access e.g. doorways and also floor loadings.
Gradient, wet or rough terrain will all make a difference to the choice of machine both for travelling to the work area and the positioning of the machine for use. A rough terrain machine means it will travel over uneven ground not necessarily work off that ground. (All machines must be as level as possible to be raised).
It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure operators are trained and he must have the correct categories on his licence. The IPAF PAL Licence is recommended.
